Originally from Saint-Petersburg, I live and work in Prague since 2003 as a photographer, performance and video artist, curator, and art pedagogue. I like to conduct research and experiments in both my work and curatorial practice, as well as to design (create) a complex “transensual” and even synesthetic experience. My methodology arises from intuition and motivation to interconnect.

Why are you a part of MagiC Carpets?

Bringing people together has always been my motto.

Why have you chosen to be a curator or why has curatorship chosen you?

I believe it is my transdisciplinary approach which got me in. I am also the project coordinator thanks to my organisational skills.

What do you think is the purpose of art?

Art can serve many purposes, the approach to art has changed a lot throughout history. For me, as an artist, it is a means of communication, and as a curator, a way of reflecting who we are and how the world feels today. And I see a certain parallel between the primary concept of religion (functioning as a conjunction, a common denominator, a foundation for the society) and art, which exists in the age of prevailing skepticism and exact sciences substituting it.

Past projects you are proud of (before MC):

I curated a poetry and performance night at café Nová Syntéza, National Gallery in Prague called Spirit is a Vibration. New Acts of Live Art.

Together with Vittorio Ricco I co-curated multimedia and performance evenings at Prague Biennale 5 (in 2011): On top of Nowhere, the last 11th, Audio visual poem for Microna.

In 2013, I curated a sound performance night for the closing reception of Prague Biennale 6 called Coffer resonance.

In 2018, I curated an exhibition of photographer from Tehran Sina Boroumandi called In Between.
