“Preila project” dives into mysterious searches for lost treasure in the Curonian lagoon and the carefree state of vacationers in relation to the Curonian Spit’s realities. / “Dyke Into” plays with the dual meaning of the word ‘dyke.’ In geology, a dyke is a rock formation; in slang, it refers to a lesbian. Originally displayed on JCDecaux outdoor stands in Vilnius, the 12-print series — featuring photographs of people identifying as dyke alongside geological formations — draws attention to LGBTQ+ visibility. /  “Sinkhole” departs from geological formations and the research of the artist’s grandfather, the geologist Vytautas Narbutas, inviting the viewers to follow the paths opened up by sinkholes. Eroded rocks melt, a cavity forms, the upper surface of the earth can no longer support it and it sinks in. The resulting caves merge into interconnected channels, forming a fractured landscape that offers a different perspective on this natural phenomenon.

What inspires you as an artist? My inspiration moves between scales — from the vastness of world-shaping events to the banality that shapes our everyday lives.

What do you think is the purpose of art? To make life more interesting but also to draw attention to the overlooked (or neglected) parts of the world and our surroundings.
