Currently, I’m fulfilling myself as a freelance choreographer, dancer, and movement teacher.  My ongoing artistic practice is quite diverse – from working on immersive site specific theatre performances for kids and their families to choreographing big scale Drag performance shows as well as actively participating in the development of the local contemporary dance community and introducing dance to young adults.

Practice: Contemporary dance, choreography, and other movement-oriented practices

Areas of interest: Diverse movement practices, community work, daydreaming about a new generation of contemporary stage art, where it’s available for a broad audience, outside stereotypical venues and big, boring black stages.  electronic music, inclusion, and sustainability in life and artistic practices.

Why are you a part of “Magic Carpets”: A significant part of my artistic practice involves working with teenagers and young adults. I feel like contemporary art often overlooks the voices of teens, and in Latvia, it is mostly available for a select group of snobbish experts and aficionados. I seek for a change. This project presented a great opportunity for me to explore diverse approaches to contemporary art, challenge traditional notions of dance and stage art, and provide a platform for Riga’s young adults to express themselves and bring their ideas to life.

“Magic Carpets” project for 2025 is ongoing (more information coming soon)

What’s moving there?

Type: A family participation performance with walking elements

A site-specific performance in and about nature. In every city there is a place where creatures and beings meet that live completely differently from what we are used to seeing in everyday life. They make sounds, move, talk, walk and look as if they are not from this planet. However, on the contrary – they are creatures of the Earth.  What is moving there?

Let’s  all of us gather in the forest together to get to know amazing creatures living there?

FREEDOM TO LOSE CONTROL TOGETHER WITH THE MANY

Type: Immersive durational dance performance

It’s an immersive performance experience in which we invite the audience to create a safe and inclusive space together in the given time and place. An informal dance party based on utopian ideas about the perfect society. Everyone is invited to surrender to rhythmic electronic music and to lose control together with the many.

It is a symbiosis between guided movement meditation and rave dance party, in which the aim is to find togetherness, empathy to yourself and the ones around you and eventually create a safe inclusive space where the judgment and prejudice does not exist, only love and acceptance.
