With an incredible closing event Sunday just gone, Folkestone Fringe would like to share some words, reflections & moments captured at the #FestivalofLooking, with their friends across Europe.
“Huge love & appreciation to everyone that got involved in the #FestivalofLooking, whether you were here physically or online. We had a fantastic festival of exploration & investigation, enriched by discussion & local voices. The experience of delivering & engaging arts & culture in this time has been a tremendous learning experience, providing great fulfilment to our team & communities. Important & long over due approaches have been adapted, & voices platformed. This is just the beginning of a monumental journey. Our festival partner Urban Room Folkestone and ourselves, would like to take the opportunity to thank the team & artists involved in this project. The fest combined the project outcomes from our third-year Magic Carpets artists & practitioners based both remotely and locally to #Folkestone; the development of Fringe’s lockdown projects MySquare & Antidiary; joined heads, hands & hearts with the awesome programme behind Black History Month Folkestone; as well as took action for other strands of involvement & opportunity which soothed situations of isolation & feelings towards our individual & collective futures within these times. As well as a huge thank you to our supporters: this project is part of the #MagicCarpets Platform co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union. This project has generously been supported by Arts Council England.
There are too many beautiful photos to choose from thanks to Josh Jordan Photography, with more available over on our Twitter (Fstonefringe), and on our website from next week; folkestonefringe.com”
P.S. You can catch up with some of the online events from the festival live-streams on Facebook page. Also, expect to see over the next few days on the Magic Carpets Instagram page too, some sharing’s of artist profiles/project outcomes & hopes from the festival…to the future for Folkestone Fringe.
