Kenne-Diss

My practice revolves mainly around nature, and how we relate to it, as well as societal questions that reflect, comment and question the rules and conformities we have set up for ourselves.

I like creating things that i think are easy to relate to and interpret to as many as possible.

I often find that there is a thick wall between art and the viewer. I strive to make art that FEELS, and I want to break this wall, or make it as thin as possible at least. My biggest tools for this is simplicity and naivety in the visual expression. Beneath the “silly” however, I can then hide a lot more heavy subjects, feelings or thoughts to comment, question or invite to reflection around different subject matters. The balance of fun and light-hearted, and heavy and serious is important.

I also strongly believe in interaction as a way to invite viewers/participants and make them and their experiences a part of the art. It also invites to discussion which I believe is such an important and beautiful thing.

Areas of interest: Text/word-based work, re-purposed materials, interactivity and naivety, land-art

Why are you a part of Magic Carpets: It’s a nice project that opens doors for new meetings and opportunities where you get use for your areas of interests in your practice, as well as share them to/in a community!

Past project | DÖDEN, Här kommer vi! (DEATH, here we come!)

Type: Exhibition-concept

DÖDEN, här kommer vi! is and ongoing concept for exhibitions created by me and artist partner Frida Rådlund. Based off of questions, feelings, experiences and thoughts around death as a theme, we create varying exhibitions with mainly sculptural and interactive installations that invite visitors to think, feel and talk more openly around death, a rather difficult subject.

What inspires you as an artist? Simplicity and naivety. Nature, society, made up rules and conformities.

What do you think is the purpose of art? Art should be FELT, experienced and shared. It should be a way to communicate questions, feelings and ideas.
