For the second year in the row campaign “Kaunas visiems” (eng. Kaunas for All) is awarding organizations and individuals of Kaunas who give special attention to people with disabilities. Campaign aims to draw attention of the daily lives and needs of people with disabilities and to show that they are integral part of our society.
Kaunas City Council nominated with the award artists Mantas Stabačinskas and Vasara Visockaitė and MagiC Carpets project by Kaunas Biennial Creative movement laboratory.
Choreographers and dancers Mantas Stabačinskas and Vasara Visockaitė initiative Creative movement laboratory focused on working together with people with disabilities center “Korys” and tried to create an open and free space for participants to improvise, feel the fluency and freedom of dance, and to together become a part of dance community. Initiative was presented in Kaunas during the summer of 2020.
“Awarded initiatives, business organizations are living proof that the integration of a person affected by disability in the community, in the labour market is significant not only for themselves, but also creates added value for the business itself. In a sense, it enriches the whole company and at the same time strengthens society,” said Dr. Donatas Večerskis, Deputy Chairman of the Health and Social Affairs Committee of Kaunas City Council.
Mantas Stabačinskas also has been nomanted as the most memorable Kaunas artist by Kaunas Artists’ House for his wide variety of mature creative projects and active social activity during 2020. The winner was chosen from nine nominees by a special committee composed of experts in dance, theatre, photography, cinema and architecture.
