Name of the project: Hvar Summer Festival

Position: Artistic director

It has been a huge challenge to take over a leadership of a festival with a 60-year-old tradition on the Hvar Island with its rooted ways of performances. Slowly but surely you can make a significant progress, but you need to work hard, have a good partner and/or a team and have a support of the community. I think we are on a good path. Why have you chosen to be a curator or why has curatorship chosen you? It was a natural way of things for me after finishing MA in Art History, just my main interest during my studies were art & architecture of the Middle Ages. I have never thought that I’ll be attracted or, even more so, curate the contemporary art.

What do you think is the purpose of art? The purpose of art is to inspire, move, challenge and spice up our lives, to express our inner thoughts and communicate with others.

Your favourite book(s): I’m not very fond of these types of questions but if I really need to point out some books, here we go: My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante, Como agua para chocolate by Laura Esquivel, To Much Happiness by Alice Munro.

Your favourite film(s): La Grande Bellezza, Little Women, The Lord of the Rings, House of Flying Daggers, Kung Fu Panda.
