Petr Dlouhý
I am a Prague-based curator, researcher, producer, and host in the field of independent performing arts. Working within diverse scales ranging from DIY initiatives and established institutions, my activities aim to break the spell of gate-kept resources and build structures of mutual support. I use tools that utilise event organising, tarot readings & community building to allow artists develop & present their work and to create a sense of belonging among artists-institutions-audience. My interests are nourished in projects that embrace curiosity, social justice, and mutual learning.
Areas of interest: Performing arts, new media, process-based practices, mutual aid & mutual learning

Tarot decks to reshape the arts
Since 2019, I have been working with tarot-inspired decks. Hosting readings for artists, institutions, culture workers, random strangers, activists to help them navigate & reflect on their actions, embrace the imagination ad bring joy to spaces that often feel dry and depleted by never-ending labour.
Together with my dearest conspirator Bek Berger, we have been sparking magic across countries and continents.
Why have you chosen to be a curator or why has curatorship chosen you? I have always been an event & community organiser, a host. The role-name ‘curator’ came to me more like a tool for being understood and seen by the cultural infrastructure.
What do you think is the purpose of art? I believe there are multiplicity of purposes. One that is closest to me is the one that provokes curiosity and enables us to weave social fabric, one that teaches us how to listen and relate to each other and to our surroundings.
