Join us for underwater listening workshops with Portuguese artist Francisca Rocha Gonçalves (Kika RG), in collaboration with the Udruga Lantina Vrboska.
Due to preventive measures related to COVID-19, we recommend that you apply in groups. The optimal number of participants per boat is 5. Workshops are free, the number of places is limited. Applications to: [email protected].
Program
18:00 – Meeting point: Jelsa / Museum of the Municipality of Jelsa, Vrboska / Fishermen’s Museum
Introduction to experience. What sounds exist in the seas? Why are hydrophones needed? Ways of communication of marine life through sounds, particle motion and changes in vibrations. Listening as an active behavior and as a way of connecting with the place.
18:30 – Boarding and sailing towards Zečevo island
Enjoying sailing and visually connecting with the environment.
19:30 – Zečevo: Listening to underwater sound recordings.
Participants will listen to the natural sonic landscape of the seabed at a selected location in contrast to the occasional introduction of anthropogenic noise in order to understand the intensity of this type of noise underwater.
20:30 – Return, discussion, and feedback.
After the listening experience, on the way back we will have the opportunity to try delicious local wines. This is a time to share personal insights and feedback.
