Tbilisi Photo Festival as part of the MagiC Carpets project implemented an online residency program “Subtropical Cultures”.
Throughout the residence, the artists worked in a variety of techniques, including video, photography, video game, computer-generated images and text. They mused around topics such as historical memory and amnesia, personal experience and trauma, issues of gender, reflection on the everyday life and universal generalizations.
The online residence program was initiated by Tbilisi Photo Festival in partnership with the European platform MagiC Carpets. The residency program aimed to support the visual artists and to use art as a tool for trustful exchanges between artists representing the conflict divided sides.
Among invited experts of the residency were: David Jishkariani, Paata Zakareishvil and George Maisuradze.
