SALT+EARTH Festival of Landscape, Seascape & Environment

As a part of the SALT EARTH Festival: Aaron Kopp – A Path is a Conversation

Folkestone’s connection with the land is fractured. This environment of bits and pieces requires leaps of imagination. Allowing the conversation between the landscape and those who dwell in it to guide him, Aaron Kopp has taken a series of walks from the sea up onto The Downs – each one different and each one encountering obstacles along the way.In this exhibition, Aaron shows his exploration of the landscape and the people who dwell in it. By listening to and joining their conversation he creates a clear path to the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Aaron is an artist from Austria, his work flows between landscape, environment and the relationship between physical and mental structures – the built environment and social values. Aaron works mainly within three contexts: individual freedom, community perspectives, and urban policy.

Aaron is in Folkestone as an artist on Magic Carpets, a Creative Europe platform uniting 14 European cultural organisations. Artists embark on residencies abroad, engaging with local artists and communities to create new work which highlights local particularities.
